Welcome to Kicking Pablo

First things first, GO YOU, YOU SUPERSTAR!... The fact that you reading this right now means that you've realised that the partying has getting a bit out hand, as you keep doing it, almost unconsciously, over and over again, however many times you had decided to stop. You're here because you have finally recognised that there is some hidden force within you that overrides your rational thought process every time, which you just can't understand, so you've decided to try and find out why. Please, take a moment to appreciate that you have just taken the BIGGEST and HARDEST step all on your own, so give yourself a bit of credit. Every one of us knows just how hard it was to finally admit it to ourselves too.

The next step, asking for help, is almost just as hard, mainly because the reality is that 99% of us will never reach out to a family member, close friend , or loved one to confide in and admit to having an addiction problem. The reason is always  because we feel too ashamed, embarrassed and/or guilty to share it with someone that we  feel are going to be hurt, sad or disappointed with us.

And that's why Kicking Pablo. We have all been through it, and thankfully came out the other side, unlike the many who didn't. Many of us took years and years trying different things, yet tripping up again and again, finally going to rehab in desperation, only to find that the parts we were seeking and needed were all there in one place. Learning them together with a group of others just like us, through sharing our stories with each other, allowed us to learn what we needed to break our addiction.

About us

We're a group of ex-addicts who found success in kicking the habit through rehab, and we're here to share what we learnt along the way and offer support.

While learning the science is important, the real healing happens by hearing the experiences of others who have been through it, from each of which a small piece will resonate with you, and putting them together is how YOUR story  gets written.

We understand that getting everything you need in one place at one time, is the best way to tackle it, but hearing it from someone who has been through it, is far more impactful than from someone, however well-intentioned, who hasn't.

And that's what triggered (pun intended) the Kicking Pablo project

Understanding Addiction

Most people believe that someone becomes an addict because they progressed from using drugs recreationally into a regular habit by taking it too often, then driven by some addictive quality that's embedded within the chemical profile of their substance of choice. Let's clarify this right now, in one word.. Horseshit!

An addiction develops within you as a coping mechanism of some sort, to manage some underlying pain that was inflicted by some trauma that occurred earlier on in your life, which was so uncomfortable that your mind tucked it away nice and deep so that it wouldn't hurt anymore.
